HELP US WITH OUR MEDICAL FUND
In 2022, FDR spent$138,000
on medical and we may surpass that amount in 2023. These costs do
NOT
include spays, neuters and basic vaccines. Currently over 90% of our dogs are not spayed, neutered, microchipped or fully vaccinated upon intake.
Some dogs are unable to leave the shelter unless a rescue pulls them, often because of medical needs. We also encounter unexpected medical needs including surgery. Costs also include medicine, because of a cough (many shelter dogs come in with kennel cough) or even open wounds, may need x-rays or after-surgery physical therapy. Other expenses come in the form of “fospice” dogs’ needs like heart medicine, insulin or just continued vaccines/vet appts as they live out their golden years.
We need your help in order to continue helping the dogs in need - at shelters, in unsuitable environments, in situations in our community where people can no longer care for their pets and our continued support of our “fospice” dogs (currently we have 15 in our care) and dogs in our care waiting to be adopted.
